Shirley went to Ms Redley school and after that worked Construction with his step father the late Mr. Larry Smith, on & off whenever he needed a hand. Shirley also did fishing and pulling of fish pots with his step father too..His niece Janet has fond memories of when she was a young girl.. going out on the boat with her uncle Shirley.... in the north sound , and doing beach days at the head of Barkers also known as Barcus..he was a great family man. He enjoyed the past time of listening to music , he & his brother Dabian shared a love for music and they sat together many Saturday nights and during holidays , listening to some good ole country along with his sister in law Joan. Shirley also played the tambourine during church service and he could always be seen riding to and from in the community on his bicycle. He was a handyman and jack of all trades and a master of them all. He helped many of the neighborhood people and was a hard working man and very dependable.
He also had a great green thumb and in 2020 he and his nephew in law Calvin started a backyard project of fruit trees & vegetables and Shirley was always sure to help tend to the garden. He was the families go to for assistance in getting any gardening project started esp with his niece Dereena. He always supplied his niece Janet and her son CJ with seasonal fruits of mangos , plums , guineps and june plums keeping the Caymanian tradition alive , of eating them with sauce.
He was also a big animal lover and always helped to care for the family yard cats .
He had been struggling with re-occuring childhood asthma since 2005. In Feb 2022 he required & did body repair surgery , & March 13th of this year he passed away suddenly at his home in West Bay , he will surely be missed by his friends and family ; brother Dabian , sister in law Joan , 2 nieces Dereena & Janet , nephew in law Calvin & grand nephew CJ...
May he now rest in peace.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Boatswain bay cemetery on April 2nd 11am

Viewing will be held at boddens funeral home on april 1st from 1pm to 3pm
